CANDLE CARE

Guidelines

Pay attention to your candle.

  • Never leave your candle unattended, especially if you have pets or kids.
  • Never burn your candle close to anything that is flammable.
  • Never use a candle as a night light.
  • Never extinguish candles with water.
  • Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
  • Always place your candle on a stable, heat resistant surface.
  • Safety instructions are on the bottom of your Clara the Brand candle. Please read and follow them carefully.

Trim your wick to 0.25”.

  • We recommend trimming to 0.25”. Wood wicks perform best when they are closer to the wax.
  • You can trim your Clara the Brand candle using a wick trimmer, scissors or nail cutter.
  • Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris.
  • Re-trim your wick before every use, not just the first time you light your candle.

Burn for at least 2 hours.

  • To avoid tunneling, make sure to let your candle burn for 2 – 4 hours, or until the wax has melted to the edge of the jar (full melt pool).
  • Tunneling means the wick is burning straight down the centre of the candle without creating a full melt pool within 2 – 4 hours of being lit.

Stop burning after 3-4 hours or when your candle has achieved a full melt pool.

  • Once your candle has burned for 3-4 hours, extinguish it.
  • Do not burn longer than this time to maximize the full benefit of your Clara the Brand candle and to keep the glass jar from getting too hot.
  • Relight it once the candle has cooled.

Stop burning when there’s only 1/2” of wax left in the vessel.

  • Our wick clips keep the flame at safety height above the bottom of the candle jar. This is in place to reduce the risk of overheating at the end of the candles life.
  • Once 1/2” of the wax is left, don’t burn any longer. This prevents the candle from overheating and damaging the surface below it.

Reuse your candle vessels.
